Release Alert (4/17/10): Nike LeBron VII PS ‘Playoff Pack’

Nike LeBron VII 'POP'

The other day we covered the Nike Zoom Kobe V ‘Playoff Pack’ edition colorway.  Not to be outdone, King James will have his own special set of kicks for the post-season with the Nike LeBron VII ‘Playoff Pack’ colorways.  If you’ve noticed, the “Air Max” is missing from the title of the sneakers.  That’s because Nike has ditched the Air Max bag for the Zoom airbag!  I must say though, I’ve always been more of an avid fan of Kobe’s kicks, but damn, these ‘POP’ colorways are pretty sick.

Let’s start with the Black/White/Sport Red colorway.  This is the main one that catches my eye with the full-grain and synthetic leather upper that has quite a few masterfully crafted details.  On the medial side near the heel, a fierce lion’s head traced out in glossy black blends into the black upper, but is highlighted by piercing red eyes.  The lion undoubtedly represents the fact that LeBron is simply an unstoppable “Beast” on the court as he even has a similar tattoo on his arm.  The shoe also has a red tongue, red laces, and a red heel strap.  Although the Zoom airbag replaced the Air Max bag, the shoe still remains relatively light with Flywire holding the upper in place.  With a transparent blue and black solid rubber outsole as well, these kicks are definitely the most attractive colorway that I’ve personally seen for the Sevens.

LBJ's lion spirit.

Nike will also concurrently release a White/Black/Red colorway.  With this shoe, we see a mostly white upper trimmed out with a black patent leather toe box and Swoosh logo.  The lion art is more prevalent with this colorway as the black trace lies on a white backdrop with the same acute red eyes.  The laces and tongue are white, but the outsole remains transparent blue and black.  While these aren’t quite as captivating as the Black/White/Sport Red, they’re not too hard on the eyes in their own right.

LeBron’s Cleveland Cavaliers are primed for a deep playoff run that they hope will end with an NBA Championship.  Many, if not all of us are obviously eager for a Kobe vs. LeBron NBA Finals matchup because it would be far and away the greatest basketball championship series in the history of the world – well, slightly above Magic vs. Bird.  As sickly as it sounds though, I’m actually also really excited thinking about how bananas Nike will go with colorways, promos, and more MVPuppets!

White/Black/Sport Red

These kicks will release on April 17, 2010 at the House of Hoops and Niketown for $144.99.  They may also be releasing at your local Finishline so contact all of them for updates.

Don’t forget that the NBA Playoffs begin in just 3 short days!
