It’s already been almost a full month of intense NBA playoff basketball as we’re already staring into the conference finals, one round away from the NBA Finals. Three of the four semifinalists have already been determined very early with a record, three sweeps in the conference semis as the Lakers, Suns, and Magic dismantled the Jazz, Spurs and Hawks respectively. Kobe Bryant has been playing at a ridiculous clip, averaging over 30.0 ppg while shooting over 50% in the last six games. Steve Nash in particular paid a considerable price for his team’s sweep by taking an inadvertent elbow to his right eye, leaving a vicious bruise. Dwight Howard is leading Orlando as they’ve just destroyed their opponents in the first two rounds, going 8-0 in the playoffs. While those series had early finishes, the city of Cleveland is emanating tons of controversy as league MVP LeBron James mysteriously played one of the most, if not the most, passive games of his seven-year career last night. The always crucial Game 5 went to the Celtics as they obliterated the Cavs on their home floor to the tune of a 32-point blowout victory, taking a 3-2 series lead. The way the Cavs-Celtics series is playing out just goes to show that the regular season does not fully indicate in any way how a prospective playoff team is going to perform when it matters the most. Looks like Kobe vs. LeBron may quite possibly be an afterthought yet again in 2010. Either way, enjoy the kicks!
