When you think of California, the first images that are invoked most likely have something to do with the beach and an endless supply of warm glowing sunlight. For sports fans, you undoubtedly also think of the Lakers and Kobe Bryant. It just so happens that Nike has made a play on those themes and concocted the Nike Zoom Kobe VI ‘Sunset’.
This very thematically tuned colorway conveys the sunny sand and ocean without crossing the line into the world of, for the lack of a better word, tacky. The glare of California’s orange sun splashes across the upper with a gradient finish while off-tone teal works the heel cap, Swoosh and translucent outsole, *representing the ocean. A much brighter orange blazes throughout the inner lining, laces and tongue as black offers some needed contrast on the heel and midsole. “LA” sits below a starfish on the insole, capping off the thematic representation of good old sunny California, the state that Kobe has called home for the last 15 years.
