Melo League vs. Goodman League Highlights 8.30.11
I’m curious to see whether or not NBA players will simply band together and form their own mega exhibition league if the 2011-2012 season really does end up getting scrapped amid the lockout. We’ve already seen Kevin Durant drop 66 at Rucker Park and Kobe bust a game winner over James Harden in summer league games. Now we’re treated to highlights of an exhibition match that includes cream of the crop superstars like Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, Chris Paul and yet again, KD (dude is just addicted to ballin!). The four headliners met up with other NBA players at Morgan State University in Baltimore to give fans what they miss dearly – sick, sick basketball.
The Melo League took home the victory 149-141 behind 27 from Carmelo (in the Jordan Melo M7 Advance), 34 from LeBron (in the Nike LeBron 8 V2 ‘Graffiti’) and 16 from CP3 (Jordan CP2 ‘Quick’). Even though Durant’s Goodman League fell short of winning the game, KD went berserk and dropped 59 points (wearing the Nike Zoom KD III ‘Team Orange’) on LBJ, continuing his summer of basketball dominance in an effort to take his game to even greater heights. If it isn’t abundantly obvious by now, the guy just knows how to score buckets from every spot on the court, growing his exploits to the level of one, Kobe Bryant. Derrick Rose may have won league MVP last season, but Durantula looks primed to lead the candidates list if we do have a new season after the lockout is settled.
How much of the NBA season do you think will be cut as the league’s owners and players continue to negotiate?
