Klay Thompson To Announce Shoe Deal In NYC

kyrie

Nike ended 2014 with the unveiling of the Kyrie 1 and rumors began swirling for its next signature star. James Harden’s name came up multiple times and that may be true with the introduction of the Hyperchase. One thing is for certain, Klay Thompson will not be Nike’s next signature athlete. Earlier in the NBA season, Golden State Warriors shooting guard, Klay Thompson was reported to leave Nike. Although the noise and news wasn’t as exciting as Kevin Durant nearly leaving Nike for Under Armour, it looks like Thompson is finally ready to announce his new deal with Anta. According to Diamond Leung of the Bay Area News Group, Thompson is set to make noise with his own shoes.

(For those who don’t follow the Golden State Warriors, Diamond Leung is a credible beat write that follows the Warriors on a daily basis.)

Thompson has been wearing the Swoosh throughout the season but has been spotted wearing Anta shoes in practice. It’s not unlikely for athletes to change brands after their contract is up. The uprise of Chinese basketball brands have been steadily rising after Dwyane Wade left Jordan Brand for Li-Ning. Anta already has a list of NBA players endorsing their product, most notably Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo, Chandler Parson, and Luis Scola. With Thompson’s new contract extension in the off season, it looks like the All-Star is ready to dip into the marketing world. Look for Thompson to get his first signature shoe with Anta.
