12. Nike Zoom Kobe 5 “Bruce Lee”

You may think that martial arts and basketball have nothing to do with each other, but to the five time champion, there are a lot of similarities.  Bruce Lee’s film, Game of Death, is said to be Kobe Bryant’s personal favorite and with that, Swoosh decided to tell that story back in 2009 with the Zoom Kobe 5.kobe-bryant-bruce-lee-nike-zoom-kobe-v-4

Continuing his journey to the fifth ring, many of the Lakers wore the Bruce Lee Kobe 5 on court back in February of 2010.  You will hardly ever see this happen in which several players of the team wear the same color of the shoe, especially a limited sneaker like this one.  Lakers players Shannon Brown and Lamar Odom were some of the players that day that wore the Bruce Lee Kobe 5.  I’m missing a couple more, but that’s all I can recall at this point in time.

Nike continued on the theme of martial arts throughout the years with the most recent Nike Kobe 11 Elite “Bruce Lee” and the Kobe 9 EM version as well.  Regardless, the original Kobe 5 will be regarded as a classic in Nike Basketball history and staple to the signature line of the Mamba.

11. Nike Zoom Kobe 6 Grinch

Arguably the most popular Christmas model in all of Nike Basketball, the Kobe 6 Grinch.  Accompanied with the extra set of candy-cane red laces, the Nike Zoom Kobe 6 Grinch became an instant favorite for all Laker fans and Kobe fans alike.  It signified the new era of bright-neon color sneakers and established new heights of what the Kobe line could expect for years to come.

It comes to no surprise that the Grinch became a classic as everyone knows the story of How the Grinch Stole Christmas.  A tale that Kobe has been all too familiar with as he stole many of their Playoff appearances for many of the Western Conference teams in the NBA.  Unfortunately, the Los Angeles Lakers fell to the Miami Heat 96-80 as LeBron James and Bosh made their first appearance in LA with new uniforms.

It’s hard to come up with a bigger December sneaker release than the Grinches back in 2010.  When you think of Christmas and basketball, the Kobe 6 Grinch is that sneaker that comes to mind immediately.  I’m sure many of you would put these in your top 10, but we’ll leave that discussion up for another time.

Speaking of Top 10, the next five will be debuted tomorrow.  Until then, enjoy tonight’s last game for the Black Mamba.  Let us know your thoughts so far by using hashtag, #Top20KobeSneakers on social media.
