Taking The Shrine Co. Daypack on the Road | Review

    January 23rd, 2017

In my possession is The Shrine’s Daypack model from the Duality Collection. The name is pretty self-explanatory as it focuses towards fitting a day’s worth of gear in one bag. It’s a simple light grey canvas contrasted with navy blue accents. On the inside, there’s a maze-like red print for extra pizzaz.

In a quick-run down, this bag has two main compartments in the front and a large one the backside. The bottom portion is the money-maker… the signature… the reason this bag exists. It’s the section for your sneakers.

Sometimes, you flex with a cozy-boy  Outfit Grid, right?

In the main compartment, you have the ability to adjust it for height and it expands for width so you don’t squish your kicks. As you can see in the photos, the Bred 1s are pretty snug. When I wore the Bred 1s on feet, I tucked away my Tuxedo 11 Lows here.

Keep in mind, I rock a 9 / 9.5 shoe size. According to the site, The Shrine designed the bag to fit sneakers up to size 15. To be completely honest, I’m a bit of a neat freak and I love the fact that there’s a plastic lining that’s reminiscent of patent leather that’ll make it easy to wipe and clean in case there’s dirt.

On the top half, this compartment allows you to place the rest of your necessities. Pens, headphones, keys, gum, and small notebooks are a few things I had placed.

    Side Zipper

In a unique look, this backpack uses a side-zipper compartment. When opened up, there’s two sections within (one is a laptop sleeve). When placing your laptop in the section that’s closer to your back when its worn, there’s a velcro strap that’ll keep your computer locked down. I have a 13” Macbook Air that slid in easily with tons of space to spare. We fact-checked and the pack is created to fit a 17” computer.

I must warn you, beware of the velcro. I wasn’t paying attention when throwing some clothes in and it snagged my Tech pants.

Thoughts and Opinion on the Shrine Co. Daypack

under-the-seatBeing completely honest, the backpack felt a bit on me but the bag does exactly what its intended to do; its a day-trip backpack. I took it on the road with me as I hit up Houston and Portland andeEach trip was at least three nights long.

With a carry-on duffel, this backpack kept my necessities close-by. It definitely got the job done but I can see its true value as a one-to-two day bag. Like I mentioned, this backpack is a bit bigger but it slid underneath the seat pretty easily.

At the airport and with colleagues, I got a handful of compliments which speaks volume on its own. The quality on the bag really stands out as my favorite feature. I couldn’t find any loose threads or uncommon flaws.

So when the fellas decide to take the 15 North to Las Vegas (highway from Southern California), I would not hesitate to pack my things into this bag. If you’re looking to splurge, this is something I’d recommend grabbing. If you’re often on the road, then you may want to check their larger options such as the Duffel or Wheeled Case looks.

Paul George Shows Off His Nike PG1 Video

    January 22nd, 2017

Signature shoes from Nike don’t come by often. James Harden felt like he wasn’t going to be a featured athlete so he left to join the Three Stripes. If Nike does come calling for your own signature line, they are expressing the utmost trust and confidence in you. Small forward, Paul George of the Indiana Pacers is 21st and the latest basketball player to flex in his own sneaker.

Below is a video of PG13 nonchalantly speaking on his kicks with Fox Sports Indiana:

At this point, we’ve seen about three colorways on court. George donned this exact Pacers colorway, the “Blackout” MLK PEs and the “2K” colorway. For those interested in the shoe, the retail price tag is $110 USD and many more colorways are expected to come.

    November 12th, 2016

We were there on November 1st as Kobe Bryant and the Nike Basketball team unveiled the Kobe A.D. line. While that next shoe is almost here, the Kobe 11 EM is still dropping colorways. Europe got a treat as this “Philippines” dubbed colorway makes a surprise drop.

A metallic gold Swoosh and Shozoku logo drapes a deep royal blue upper. The blue translucent midsole also gets golden speckles. While we don’t have concrete release details, these are one of the hottest colorways to drop in the Kobe 11s. On that Footlocker link, the shoes are running for 160 Euros which is loosely equivialent to $174 USD. In the states, this EM model has been retailing for $160 USD.

After seeing classic colorways release on this model such as the Mambacurial, Bright Mango, Draft Days, Lower Merion Aces, and Carpe Diem, does this EM colorway top those?

The Shrine 2016 Holiday Luggage Collection Unveiled

    November 12th, 2016

We’re sure packing is the same process for all sneakerheads. When packing for a trip, the first thing that comes to mind has to be the footwear. After that gets selected, you start with the essentials: underwear, socks, and tees. Then, you choose the rest of your fly gear.

The Shrine’s line of luggage and bags begin with a focus on the sneaker. Inspired by protecting the kicks, their bags are designed with the Kicksologist on the move in mind. Depending on the model, the bag is designed to fit one or two extra pairs.

Travel Tip: Duffel bags look great for the ‘Gram but when you’re walking through that huge airport and you’ve packed for a few days, you’d rather have wheels.

New to the line is their is the Wheeled Case. It’s carry-on sized model with wheels that line up with TSA requirements to minimize the struggle of the jet life:

The Shrine Wheeled Case is our latest addition to our travel goods line up. Very similar to our Weekender Backpack, it provides two dedicated shoe compartments for your sneakers or boots during travel. Along with storage for a weekend’s worth of clothes in the main compartment, it also has specific pockets for your accessories, watches, jewelry, etc.

The two front pockets provide quick access for a 15″ laptop and your smartphone/chargers/wallet/or passport when running through TSA. Make travel as easy as possible with this carry-on wheeled case design.

They are dropping two new collections on Black Friday: the Black/Gold collection and the Navy Pixel Camo collection. The Black and Gold collection features an OVO-esque colorway for the set. On a classic black base, the simple but eye-catching gold can be found on the zipper area, handle, and branding.

A desert tan nylon fabric is complimented by a pixelated blue camouflage design and vibrant hits of mandarin orange. Each collection will have 4 models: the Wheeled Case, the Weekender, the Duffel, and the Daypack.

With the holidays looming and travel season picking up, consider grabbing something from their line to make traveling a little easier and stylish.  To make the decision even easier, their shop is offering a 25% discount for pre-ordering the new collections.

    Editor’s Note

I’m considering picking one up one of the bags and giving it a run myself. The bag has the aesthetics for worthy of the ‘Gram and the sneaker section is literally made to fit everything (hi and lowtops up to size 18).
