Nike Zoom Hyperfuse
The 2010 NBA Playoffs not only gave us fans a great slate of intense top flight basketball, but we also got a chance to peep some fresh kicks in all sorts of colorways. Of all the sneakers that caught the affectionate eyes of fans worldwide, the Nike Zoom Hyperfuse stands tall amongst the top gunners.
Rajon Rondo, the newly crowned leader of the Boston Celtics has pretty much been the sole endorser of the Hyperfuse and he put on quite a show during the postseason while wearing them.
As he was killing opponents, collecting multiple triple doubles and leading the C’s back to the NBA Finals, Rondo developed a habit of occasionally inverting his home/away colorways – wearing the clean all-white on the road and the bright greens or black-green at home. Perhaps that was his own way of averting attention to his kicks, but whatever the thought was behind the presentation of the shoes, Rajon definitely made every mark he could during the playoffs while becoming the most feared point guard in the NBA today with the ability to score, rebound, defend and make plays on the break.
I have no doubt that nearly everyone noticed the Hyperfuse being rocked on the court by Rondo as the Celtics were chopping down the Heat, Cavs and Magic en route to an epic series against the Lakers because as even keel and quiet he may be on the court, he knows how to make a silent impact.
What we can see is that unlike the other kicks in the Hyper series, these have no Flywire, but rather a very breathable and light-weight mesh fabric, ventilating the fused unibody upper. Also featuring are a high rising ankle collar with plush padding all around, a Swoosh logo cleanly embedded into the side panels, a “NIKE” logo stamped onto the heel counter, a herringbone traction pattern on the outsole, a full-length Cushlon midsole that is strikingly similar to that of the Nike Zoom Kobe V and of course, a Zoom air unit in the forefoot.
By no means are these your run-of-the-mill high performance basketball shoes. The Hyperfuse represents yet another revolutionary precedent being set by Nike. As aforementioned, the upper is fused together by way of a newly developed method that utilizes heat and pressure to bond the mesh material, synthetic base and skin material into a single-frame upper that Nike claims is as durable as it gets, indoor or outdoor.
These kicks were built with all concerns of comfort, safety and performance at the top of the priority list and also endured a battery of tests in Nike’s China facilities. Keep in mind, the Hyperfuse is the Innovation Kitchen’s current wild obsession and they did not leave anything up to chance. All the bases were covered.
The Nike Zoom Hyperfuse will certainly be one of the lightest shoes in the game once they officially hit the shelves later this summer and like Rondo, they are looking to be a big-time game changer. I will definitely be keeping a hard track on these and will let everyone know when/where to pick these up in-store.
