Nike LeBron 8 PS Final Release Overview

Nike LeBron 8 PS

It’s really unbelievable how time flies.  It seems like just a week ago that LeBron James announced to the world that he would be leaving his home state of Ohio for the sunny sand of Miami, Florida.  Through all of the criticism and backlash LeBron had to endure over the 82-game season, none of that will matter if the Miami Heat are able to accomplish the mission that was envisioned back in the summer when they formed their Super Three – win an NBA championship.

The road has been long and arduous for James over the course of his eight-year career in the Association.  Though he was able to carry the Cavaliers to the NBA Finals back in 2007 on his own sheer guts and force of will, that is neither here nor there at this point.  We’ve seen two models of his eighth signature shoe released during this season, the Nike Air Max LeBron VIII and Nike LeBron 8 V2.  Those were his regular season kicks.  For the playoffs, Nike designer Jason Petrie constructed what is quite possibly the best pair of kicks the King has ever had built in his name.

The Nike LeBron 8 PS maintains the symbolic representation of Bron’s journey while implementing the latest and greatest technology produced by Nike Basketball.  This PS version employs the technology the Nike Zoom Hyperfuse and Nike Air Max Fly By has made so famous.  A three-layer upper construction utilizes a first layer of synthetic material, a second layer of mesh that provides breathability and a third TPU layer that puts up a fight against normal wear and tear.

LeBron himself said about the PS edition, “Heading into the final stretch of the season, the LeBron 8 PS mirrors my evolving game as strength and endurance are tested.  The lion symbol on the tongue of all three versions of my eighth signature shoe keep me hungry and focused each time I lace up.”

Other notable differences you’ll find with the PS model includes the use of a 180 Air Max unit in the heel only as opposed to the full-length 360 unit we’ve seen with the previous editions.  Also, the shoe features a forefoot Zoom air unit, full Cushlon midsole, a carbon fiber arch plate and an outsole with a herringbone traction pattern.  The goal was to build a lighter, yet durable shoe to ease the rigors of the NBA postseason as much as possible for James.

The Nike LeBron 8 PS will drop at retailers on Saturday, April 16, 2011, the first day of the NBA Playoffs.  You will definitely be seeing King James rock these kicks in Game 1 against the Philadelphia 76ers at American Airlines Arena that very day!

How far do you think LeBron and his playoff sneakers will travel down the merciless road towards a ring?
