In an age dominated by social media and technology, not many kids get to experience the thrill of playing outside. Even if its just a simple game of tag, going outside was the first thing they did when got home from school. For many of us, playing basketball was the only thing we could eat, drink, and sleep. Depending on where you lived, you either played most of your basketball outside, inside a gym, or maybe both. In the early 90’s, Nike made sure to create a shoe that would be able to handle the rigors of asphalt and concrete. The Nike Air Raid was made for the outside baller and now it makes its triumphant return.
The Air Raid returns in one of its original colorways, the black and flint gray model. The shoe consists of a black leather upper and wolf grey suede by the toe area . It also has mesh material in the upper that is also black, but the most distinguishable feature are the two dark grey cross bands that go around the shoe. It also has a white midsole and a black outsole. The Nike logos are grey and on the heel of the Air Raid displays the phrase “Outdoor Use Only”.
This shoe was made in an era in which streetball was extremely popular and many sneakerheads will reminisce to a time in which all that mattered was basketball with these kicks. The Air Raid’s will be released on March 29, 2014 and they will retail for $135.
