The Drew League has been around for 40 years now. It didn’t make a lot of noise until the NBA had its lockout in which many NBA superstars came to play. Established back in 1973, the Drew League is now the largest and most known pro-am basketball league. During the offseason, the Drew League is known to host NBA players, collegiate athletes, and the top street ballers. This past weekend was the commencement of the 41st season.

Even though Ed Davis and DeMar DeRozan are no longer teammates, they came to check out the competition. Nick Young was also spotted in the gym. DeMar and Nick are known for their footwear on court, these ballers are no strangers to the shoe game either. Through the pictures provided from the Drew League and photographer Cassy Athena, we’re able to see all the unique sneakers on court.

Rapper and LA native: The Game is known to be a regular in the league. Last season we saw him with the team Money Gang. The Game wore the Kobe 8 “Superhero” to go with their bright green jerseys. This year he’s repping LA Familia and almost all of the players on that team is wearing the Nike Elite LeBron XI “Hero Collection”.

One of the top high school players also came to play; Stanley Johnson played with the newly added Sole Clinic team and he donned the “What The Kobe 8”. Former NBA player Baron Davis also participated as he wore Kobe 9 Elite His. To sum it all up, there’s a large variety of Kobe 8s, Kobe 9s from EMs to Elite Highs, KD VIs, LeBron 11s, LeBron Soldier 7s, and of course Air Jordans.

We’re going to throw fellow snakerhead Franklin Session a shoutout as he hit a beautiful step back game winner to carry LA Familia to their first win! He’s worth a follow on Instagram @franknittyy
