Mamba Monday: Kobe Bryant Roundtable 1

Q3: Do you believe someone could break the 81-point game record? If so, which current player would accomplish that feat?

Kobe Bryant 81 pointJefferson | @jefferrrson: Honestly, I think it will happen, but not for a very long time.  I mean Klay Thompson did score 37 in a quarter, so it’s highly possible. Then again, just think about 80 points in a 42 minutes. 42! Not even 48 lol. Crazy, unreal, incredible.

Darryl | @brotha_d: I don’t think anyone currently will break his record, maybe down the line but not right now.

Matthew | @mrmatthewtom I think if any one player is going to break the 81 point record it’ll be Stephen Curry.

Steven | @mrquach824: With the way most NBA players are able to shoot from 3 now, of course. Watching Steph and Klay get hot is insane. I think Kobe’s 12 three-pointer record goes down before the 81 though. Maybe, it’ll happen in the same game.

Q4: Which Number Should Be Retired?

Kobe Bryant

Jefferson | @jefferrrson: If I had to choose between the two, I would have to go with 24.  He chose that number for a reason, so I’m going to have to go with Kobe’s decision on changing it to 24.  I do think that Kobe was a more complete player when he was “24”, but defensively and offensively, 8 was just more ruthless and vicious. I’ll take 8 over 24 any day.

Darryl | @brotha_d: In my opinion, both should be retired. They may only do the number he ends with, 24 but Mitch is saying they may do both.

Matthew | @mrmatthewtom Both numbers should be retired. Hands down, he was a legend in both numbers, they shouldn’t be worn by anyone in the organization again.

Steven | @mrquach824: I’m going with 24. That was pretty much his rebirth as he left his past with Shaq behind him and became ‘the man’. I doubt both numbers would go up, but that would be amazing. If I had to choose just one, it’s gotta be 24.

Q5: Which is your favorite model and colorway?

Nike Kobe MixJefferson | @jefferrrson: Easy, Nike Zoom Kobe IV “MLK”.  My first Kobe sneaker model and the MLK cw is by far the BEST color blocked sneaker of all time. Just beautifully done and presented. Perfection.

Darryl | @brotha_d:Man, I love the Orca 2’s also. After the Snake Pool Hyperdunks, my number 2 has to be the Orcas.

Matthew | @mrmatthewtom The Kobe 5 still remains my favorite model but there were too many great colorways to be able to choose one. The Chaos, the Aston Martins, and the 5 Rings stand out the most to me though.

Steven | @mrquach824: This is such a hard question, I’m not even going to answer. #FirstWorldProbs
